A Clash of Kings is the second novel of George R.R. Martin’s epic fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire, there will be seven volumes in this series. This particular book was first published in United Kingdom in 1998, two years after the publication of its prequel, A Game of Thrones. Just like the first volume, this novel received generally positive responses and reviews from critics. It won couple of awards and adapted into a successful television series by HBO.
Martin still preserves the uniqueness of the storytelling he displayed in the first book. In this novel, he again uses multiple narrators, with different point of views, and various plot-lines. The story picks up right where the first volume ended. There is a raging civil war in the Seven Kingdoms. At the same time, in the east, Daenerys Targaryen carries on her mission to make her return to Seven Kingdoms and then conquer it. Every signs that appears are slightly revealing that a catastrophic disaster is approaching.
