In 2005, Stephenie Meyer claimed the title of “best-selling” author with the publication of the first volume of the “uber famous” Twilight saga. This novel even became the most selling book in the years that follow, namely in 2008 and 2009. There is no way to deny that this particular Meyer’s work has started a huge literary phenomenon.
Following its release, it got various critical acclaim. Some critics called it a great work for its ability to capture "the teenage feeling of sexual tension and alienation," while some critics considered Bella is a weak female character. Nonetheless—with the film adaptation also gained box-office success—Twilight has successfully generated a massive worldwide buzz especially among young-adult readers.
The novel tells a high-school romance between a teenage girl (Isabella "Bella" Swan) and a more-than-a-hundred year old vampire in the shape of a young man (Edward Cullen). As their relationship grew closer, problem arrived when another vampire, James, had a certain interest in that human-vampire relationship. He separated the two lovers and tried to kill the girl. Although Edward along with the other Cullens managed to annihilate James, he already bit Bella and unless something was done, she would be a vampire too.
