Download Eckhart Tolle - The Power of Now PDF eBookThe Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment is an enlightening self-help book written by Canadian (born in Germany) writer Eckhart Tolle. Here Tolle tries to offer a guide for the readers to make “inner transformation,” a change toward “human consciousness”. In short, as stated by the author, the book is a journey to achieve “enlightenment.” It mostly synthesizes Eastern beliefs or philosophies and some Judeo-Christian teachings.
Probably it is the format used by Eckhart Tolle in presenting his views that draws people interest in his work. From his own 10-year experience and experiments in teaching and counseling individuals and groups, many questions appeared and as the teacher (or counselor or guide) he had to pursue and find the answers to those questions. So, he collected everything he had learned and found and compiled them into this book in a question-answer format.
Originally published 1999 in a relatively small amount of copies (3,000), it became a New York Times Best Seller after being recommended by Oprah Winfrey in her magazine in 2000. It has been translated into more than 30 languages and million copies have been sold around the world. Despite the mixed receptions and reviews from critics toward Tolle’s work, The Power of Now has earned its own place among the crowded spiritual self-help bookshelf.
*Review of Eckhart Tolle's The Power of Now*
Ekhart Tolle's message is simple: living in the now is the truest path to happiness and enlightenment. And while this message may not seem stunningly original or fresh, Tolle's clear writing, supportive voice, and enthusiasm make this an excellent manual for anyone who's ever wondered what exactly "living in the now" means. . .More importantly, within a chapter of reading this book, readers are already holding the world in a different container--more conscious of how thoughts and emotions get in the way of their ability to live in genuine peace and happiness.
. . .(Topics include the source of Chi, enlightened relationships, creative use of the mind, impermanence, and the cycle of life.) Thankfully, he's added markers that symbolize "break time." . . .A spiritual guidebook that has the potential to inspire just as many study groups and change just as many lives for the better. —Gail Hudson
