Youth in Revolt: The Journals of Nick Twisp PDF Download eBookYouth in Revolt: The Journals of Nick Twisp is a hilarious epistolary novel first published in 1993. It was the masterpiece of American writer C. D. Payne who is well known for his absurdist fiction stories. What makes the book stands out is the brilliant use of black humor and camp style to accompany the peculiar adolescence adventure. The novel is divided into Book One: Youth in Revolt, Book Two: Youth in Bondage, and Book Three: Youth in Exile.
14 years old Nicholas "Nick" Twisp is living a rather normal life—too normal for him sometimes he feels it kind of empty—as a teenager in a broken family. His parents, George and Estelle, are divorced and he is living with his mom. An ill-fated car deal between Estelle’s boyfriend Jerry and a group of sailors—the car Jerry sold breaks down just after the sailors pay—forces the three of them to evacuate the house to a religious mobile home camp.
In that camp area, Nick meets Sheridan "Sheeni" Saunders, a brilliant teen goddess. The girl changes his life entirely, turns it utterly upside-down. Nick wants to be close to Sheeni and to make it happen he has to do something. So, he makes a plot; a plot that later awakens his bad side (François Dillinger) and feminine side (Carlotta Ulansky); a plot to transform him into a bad boy. He must revolt, rebel, and do inexplicably bad things. It turns out he carries out the plan too well. He does some deeds considered as crimes that force him to run away from the police and take a refugee at the place of his 18-year-old rebel sister, Joanie.
The drive of striving to win the beautiful Sheeni Saunders is leading Nick Twisp into an unbelievable journeys and experiences. As his family falls apart and the police are on his tail, he has to cope with exploding desire, dreams, fortune, homelessness, dispossession, public schools, competitive ambitious father, and vicious canines.
