One of his adult students is Harry Dunning, an old janitor with crooked foot. In one of the essay projects Jake gives to the class, Harry tells about the horrific tragedy that happened to his family 50 years ago. His father killed the entire family and despite surviving that incident, Harry’s father smashed his leg.
Not long after that, Al, Jake’s friend and the local diner owner, calls and, sounding like in an emergency, asks Jake to meet him immediately. At the diner, Al reveals a secret that shocks Jake entirely. The storeroom of the diner is actually a secret time portal to go the 1958. Then Al informs Jake something that will change his life completely: Jake has been listed on a mission which is to prevent the assassination of the 35th President of the United States of America, John Fitzgerald Kennedy.
