Download Kwame Alexander - The Crossover PDF eBookFirst published in 2014, The Crossover is a novel for kids written by American author Kwame Alexander. Uniquely presenting the story in verses (like the style of rap songs), the book has generated widely positive responses from critics. In 2015, it won the Newbery Medal and also Coretta Scott King Award Honor. Dedicating the books to young readers, Kwame picks themes that are close to kids that age so they can easily relate: school, basketball, family. (Brief introduction to Kwame Alexander – The Crossover PDF eBook)*
The Crossover is told in a first person point of view. Readers will follow Josh Bell (a.k.a. Filthy McNasty), the central character. He is a dread-locked 12-year-old African-American boy. Along with his brother Jordan “J.B.” Bell, Josh owns the basketball court. Both of them are awesome players. However, “Filthy McNasty” is more than a common basketball player, he also has the passion to create crazy beats and verses.
As boys just entering the teenage years, Josh and Jordan has to cope with a lot of things in growing up. New and odd things are going for them, on and off the court. They will have to learn that “breaking the rules” has its own consequences. One of their adventures will bring a big change to their entire family.
