The story in The Revenant: A Novel of Revenge focuses on the life and adventures of Hugh Glass. He is a well-known American frontiersman, who is an expert explorer and hunter, and also a fur trapper trader. The time in the novel is set in 1823. It is a time when life in the American frontier is so brutal and harsh. As one of the best men in the company, and with wide hunting and tracking experience, Glass is sent in a group with a scouting mission. Unluckily, he comes face-to-face with a fierce grizzly bear, which claws him to near death.
Everybody believes Hugh Glass will not survive. Two men of the company are posted to take care of him as best as they can. However, when those two men decide to leave him instead, I very strong, burning desire has driven Glass to survive. It pushes him to crawl, limp, and walk across uncharted American frontier. It moves him to search for the beast that nearly killed him. It drives him to have his revenge.
